The Port Orford vibe is old fisherman's village , aging hippies, artists, musicians, biologists, retired birders, (all have rented my downstairs apartment) Santa Cruz/Bolinas in the 70's, wild rivers, lakes (best kitesurfing in the state just up the road) old-growth forests, uncrowded beaches, seductive climate (never boils or bakes here), community minded, outdoor venues (check out the old cheese factory and Mr. Ed's) and supporting Flora Organic Farm, Dragonfly Nursery, the cafes, bakeries, organic food co-op and the other small businesses.
